Muir Woods is well worth a visit
If you are a nature lover, this is one of the most memorable spots you'll ever visit. Giant old-growth Redwoods surround you in total stillness and allow a quiet and calmness that is far too rare.
These trees usually live 500-700 years, with some reaching 2000-2200. Amazing.
It's a great day trip from San Francisco.
Monarch Migration
Something everybody should see at least once:
The Monarch Migration is stunning.
I have no idea why, but I am sure there is a reason: the butterflies congregate en mass in the trees by the ocean near Santa Barbara. They absolutely cover everything, and it is a sight to behold. I've not seen it, but I know people who have. How beautiful. Timing a visit and seeing them would be awesome.
