I learned to slow down.

I recently went somewhere I've not been for almost 30 years and was so caught up in everything that was happening, I forgot to look at what wasn't happening. And so goes the lesson.

Hey, it's nice to finally get to a spot where I absolutely love what I do. I travel, take pictures, share my exploits and my gaffs, put together some amazing vacays for people... but I forget to do what everyone asks me to help them do: relax

So there I was in San Juan. Beautiful San Juan. Sophisticated San Juan. Friendly, welcoming, everything you'd want San Juan. And yes- a dispensary! But more on that later...

I have been wanting to get "group certified" (it gives me so much more to offer my clients. And besides, groups are fun to travel with.) The training and sharing was what I was there for- and it was all of it and more. Great stuff. But lots to do in little time. We were all tasked with creating content. Videos. Interviews. Business tools. If you weren't snapping a pic, taking a drink, or swapping knowledge with the others, you were busy eating. It was all excellent, but we all  know there never seems to be proper time to stop and smell the flowers at these events. ya' know?

So I didn't see the HUGE FRICKING IGUANA just steps away from me, stoic and stone like, chilling out, watching the waves roll in.

It was beautiful. He was beautiful.

It was then that I found the time. Time to relax.

I sat and enjoyed the waves seated just feet from Mr Iguana. I let the salty air wrap around me, and run through my hair. I listened to the gentle thunder of the waves as they crashed against the seawalls and jetties, and as they rolled over themselves as they neared the beach.

And nothing else. Just the never ending waves. There is nothin more relaxing. Nothing as calming.

Truth be told, if it weren't for someone pointing out Mr Iguana to me, I would have stayed caught up in my day's tasks, looking for photo ops as I walked. Thinking of catching that content and finding those perfect shots. All admirable, fun endeavors, for sure.

But none as perfect as remembering a lesson- and finding the time.
